Three easy ways: book online 24/7 at barkandpurrgrooming.com/book-now, call or text our AI assistant Sage at 844-335-5671 (call) or 844-779-2351 (text), or call us directly at 972-727-1688 during business hours.
Sage is available 24/7. No waiting, no hold music. For regular visits, 1–2 weeks ahead is usually enough. For holidays (Christmas, Thanksgiving, Easter, Mother's Day weekend), we recommend booking 4–6 weeks out — spots fill very quickly. Our regulars often rebook at pickup to lock in their next appointment.
Den Club members get priority booking access.Yes — and we encourage it. Consistent groomer relationships are part of what we build here. You can request a groomer in the booking notes field, or ask at check-in. We do our best to honor all requests based on availability. If your groomer is unavailable, we'll let you know so you can choose another date or a different team member.
We ask for at least 24 hours notice to cancel or reschedule. This gives us time to offer the spot to another pet on the waitlist. Life happens — we're understanding. If you're running late or something comes up, just call or text us as soon as you can.
Repeated no-shows may require a deposit at future bookings.
Monday – Saturday: 9am – 7pm
Sunday: 10am – 6pm
Last appointments vary by service length — the booking system will show you available slots in real time. Sage takes bookings 24 hours a day even when we're closed.
For nail trims and quick services, yes — call ahead and we'll tell you if we have a spot that day. For full grooms, we're appointment-only. We like to have your pet's profile on file before the visit so we can serve them well from the moment they walk in.
A full groom at Bark & Purr includes: breed-appropriate shampoo and conditioning bath, professional blow-dry, brush-out, haircut to your specifications, nail trim, ear cleaning, three-point wellness check, and a bandana or bow at the end. Because obviously.
The bandana is not optional. The dogs have spoken.Add-ons include: teeth brushing, blueberry facial, de-shedding treatment, de-matting, nail grinding (Dremel), paw balm, and medicated/therapeutic shampoo treatments. Ask about add-ons when you book or at check-in.
Every groom includes a three-point wellness check: we examine ears (for infection, wax buildup, or mites), eyes (discharge, cloudiness, irritation), and skin and coat (lumps, hot spots, parasites, unusual thinning, or skin conditions). If anything looks like it warrants a vet visit, we'll tell you clearly at pickup with notes you can share.
We've caught things early for a lot of our regulars. It matters.No. Cage drying is not part of our process. Every pet is hand-dried by a team member. This is more time-intensive, but it's safer, less stressful for the dog, and produces a significantly better coat result — especially for curly and double-coat breeds.
Yes. Des is our breed-standard and wire-coat specialist with deep knowledge of AKC standard cuts across terrier, sporting, and working breeds. Julia handles large breed and double-coat specialist work. All our groomers are trained in breed-appropriate techniques through the Bark & Purr Grooming Academy.
We use professional-grade, pH-balanced shampoos and conditioners selected for each pet's coat type and skin condition. We have gentle/hypoallergenic options for sensitive skin, medicated shampoos for skin conditions, and de-shedding treatments for heavy shedders. If your pet has a product allergy or sensitivity, let us know at booking and we'll accommodate.
Pricing is based on service type, dog size, and coat condition. You can see all pricing at barkandpurrgrooming.com/pricing or get an instant estimate using our cost estimator. The online booking system will show your price before you confirm.
Additional fees may apply for de-matting, very thick or double coats, or behavioral challenges that require extra time and handling.
Yes, de-matting is charged separately when it requires significant additional time. Severe matting that can't be safely removed without causing pain will result in a recommendation for a shorter cut to start fresh — we'll always explain this before we start and get your agreement. We never surprise anyone at checkout.
Join the Den Club — our membership program with 7 tiers. Members save on every groom, get priority booking, and receive boarding discounts. If your pet comes in regularly, a membership pays for itself quickly. Visit our Den Club page to see the tiers and compare savings.
Regular grooming also saves money long-term — coats in good condition take less time and cost less to maintain. We accept all major credit and debit cards, Apple Pay, and cash. Payment is collected at pickup. Gratuity for your groomer is always appreciated and can be added at checkout — they work hard and your pets love them.
Bring proof of current Rabies vaccination (a copy from your vet or a photo of the paperwork works). Beyond that — any health notes, known allergies, or a photo of the haircut style you want. We handle the rest. Don't pre-bathe your dog — just bring them as they are.
Pro tip: arrive a couple of minutes early so your pet can sniff around the lobby before check-in.Right here. Let us know in the booking notes that it's a first-time grooming experience and we'll allocate extra time, take the introduction slowly, and treat the whole appointment as a trust-building session first. A perfect haircut on visit one is a bonus — earning your dog's trust is the actual goal.
We actually recommend stepping out — most dogs settle significantly faster when their owner isn't in the building. It sounds harsh, but pets often mirror their owner's anxiety. You're welcome to grab a coffee nearby and we'll text you when they're ready. Most pickups are 2–5 hours from drop-off depending on service.
For grooming: current Rabies vaccination required. Bordetella recommended but not required for grooming-only appointments. For boarding: Rabies and Bordetella both required. Records are kept on file after the first visit so you don't have to bring them again.
We'll call or text the number on your booking when your pet is finished. Please pick up within 30 minutes of notification — we have limited waiting space and your pet is ready to show you how fabulous they look.
Yes — and this is actually a specialty of ours. Let us know in the booking notes that your dog is anxious about grooming. Mia on our team has built her entire career around the dogs that other salons struggle with. We use Fear-Free techniques, Tranquil Tail Grooming® methods, and we never force or rush a scared dog.
Many of our most loyal regulars came to us because they'd been turned away or had bad experiences elsewhere.Fear-Free is a professional certification program that trains pet professionals to prioritize a pet's emotional and psychological wellbeing alongside their physical care. It covers reading body language, reducing fear triggers, modifying techniques for anxious animals, and building trust through positive association. Every groomer at Bark & Purr holds an active Fear-Free certification.
Tranquil Tail Grooming® is our proprietary grooming method, developed by Linda. It's built around one principle: the pet's emotional state is part of the groom. Slow hands, soft voices, regular check-ins with the animal, breaks when needed, and reading body language at every step to adjust the approach. It's the method that turns first-timers into regulars.
We stop. We will never push through a groom that is causing significant distress. We'll call you, explain what happened, and discuss options — which might include a partial groom that day and finishing another time, or breaking future appointments into shorter sessions to build comfort gradually. Your pet's wellbeing always comes before a completed haircut.
Please talk to your vet first before giving any calming supplement or medication. If your vet prescribes or recommends something, let us know at check-in what was given and when — we need this information for your pet's safety. We do not administer any sedatives or medications ourselves. Some natural calming supplements are fine; others can have unpredictable effects in a grooming environment.
Yes — and this is actually one of our specialties. All cat appointments are handled personally by Linda, our owner. She has a gift with cats that is genuinely hard to explain. Cats who have "never been groomed without a catastrophe" tend to settle in with her. We don't rush cat grooms. Ever.
Cat appointments book out faster than dog appointments — give yourself more lead time. This is exactly the cat Linda specializes in. Let us know in the booking notes what your cat's history with handling is like — any biting, scratching, extreme stress, past vet or groomer incidents. Linda uses slow, low-stimulation techniques specifically designed for cats who are defensive or frightened. The goal of the first appointment is trust, not a perfect groom.
Cat services include: bath and dry, full grooming and trim, lion cuts, de-shedding treatments, de-matting, nail trims, and ear cleaning. For long-haired cats with serious matting or skin conditions, we can discuss a customized plan. All services are done calmly and with breaks as needed — no rushing, no forcing.
Yes — we require current Rabies vaccination for all cat appointments. This protects your cat, our team, and the other animals in our care. If your cat's vaccination is lapsed, please schedule a vet visit before booking with us.
Self-grooming keeps cats clean but doesn't address everything. Long-haired cats develop mats that they can't remove themselves and that can pull skin and cause pain. Professional grooming catches early signs of skin conditions, parasites, and other health issues. Nail trims prevent overgrowth that can curl into paw pads. And for senior cats or those with mobility issues, self-grooming becomes increasingly difficult — professional help keeps them comfortable and healthy.
We keep boarding capacity intentionally small so every pet gets real attention — not just a place to sleep. Your pet is cared for by the same team they see at grooming appointments, which means familiar faces and familiar smells. We send photo updates during overnight stays. Your pet isn't just housed. They're held.
Bring: their food (portioned in labeled bags or a container), any medications with written instructions, a comfort item from home (a blanket or toy they love), vaccination records (Rabies and Bordetella required for boarding), and their feeding schedule. We provide bedding, bowls, and lots of love.
Rabies and Bordetella (kennel cough) are both required for boarding. Both must be current. If your Bordetella vaccination is administered by nasal spray, it takes 3–5 days to be effective — please plan accordingly. We cannot board pets whose vaccinations are not current.
Yes. We send photo updates during overnight stays so you know your pet is settled and happy. If anything notable happens — great or otherwise — we call you directly. You can also text us to check in anytime during our business hours.
Please contact us directly to discuss cat boarding — we handle cat stays on a case-by-case basis depending on your cat's temperament and our current capacity. Call us at 972-727-1688 or email info@barkandpurrgrooming.com.
